After running the update to Akeeba Backup Core package 5.5.0 when I go to the administrator page of my site I get the following error: An error has occurred. 0 Call to a member function addStyleDeclaration() on null.
It will not let me login etc. Any advice you can provide me to clear this error would be greatly appreciated.

This may be a partial install, probably of the FOF library. It is pretty simple to fix:
  • Download a copy of one of our components, e.g. Akeeba Backup.
  • Extract it.
  • Find the lib_fof30.zip file.
  • Extract it.
  • Rename the extracted folder fof to fof30.
  • Upload the fof30 folder into your site's libraries folder so now you have a libraries/fof30 folder.

This issue seems to spring from a third party extension messing up Joomla's core APIs for inserting CSS to the page. The necessary steps to work around this issue are described in our news article on the matter.

In short, you will be removing the folder of the plugin which tries to make use of the (now broken) Joomla! core API and install an update to Akeeba Backup which has a workaround for this issue.

If you are interested in the details of this issue you can read the technical analysis in our news article. That's not a required read; we just include it to satisfy the curiosity of our clients and users of our software.

Thanks Nicholas, The workaround in your article worked (modifying plugins/system/backuponupdate/tmpl/default.html.php as suggested). One thing to note is we do not have MijoShop installed on our site so we must have another extension that responding the same. For now we are back up and running so thanks for the help.
