I am having trouble even getting started with this issue on the Joomla forum. Perhaps you will have a thought or two. May very well have nothing to do with Admin Tools.

Two now 3 users cannot log in to the front end. They receive no error message, just are sent back to the login screen. I am able to log in as these users which suggests to me and issue at their end. The site was updated from v2.5.x and was working find before that. IP's are not blocked, nor are the users themselves.

Thanks

Let me make some guesses:
  • These users are all Super Users.
  • Your IP is in the "never block" list, but theirs aren't.

If my guesses are right, go to Admin Tools, Web Application Firewall, Configure WAF, on the Joomla! Feature Hardening Options tab, set "Forbid frontend Super Administrator login" to No.

That's the only thing I can think of that would prevent a front end login.

Actually none of the users are superusers, although two of them have raised privileges - the third being a registered member. Yes, my IP is in the never block as is one of the three user IP's (the only one I have thus far been able to obtain).

I don't think Admin Tools is the problem. It isn't a Super User block, if it was a GeoIP block they would just get a 403, not a failed login. You have already checked the IP blocks.

Let's disable Admin Tools temporarily and see if that fixes the problem. You need to:
  1. Disable the System - Admin Tools plugin
  2. Rename .htaccess, then rename htaccess.txt to .htaccess, that will swap your .htaccess file for the Joomla! standard one
Now see if your users can log in. If they still have a problem, it isn't Admin Tools. If they can, I missed something and it's back to the drawing board.
