 Hi,

Sorry to open a new ticket but you closed the other one and I could not answer there.

If by upload and install, you mean intall the package manually using extension installer, that's what I usually do but I can't on that host as I get a 403 for the file administrator/index.php.

In fact I tried the automatic update only because I could not manually install and that means actually none of the two method are working.

Do you have an idea what could cause this 403 ? The certificate issue would not matter for me if I could install manually.

As said in previous ticket, even setting concerned file and up folders to 777 does not solve. Host support say that Admintools is causing this 403 but I have a clone of this website with same Admintools settings on another host and no problem at all, so I know it's not the reason.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hello,

I think this is a very weird situation: a 403 error means that the request is blocked by the server. I suspect there's something wrong on your server setup.
Now you have your last resort, the Install from folder solution, please read the instruction at this page. I strongly suggest you to talk with your host and ask him to take a look at your site.

Unfortunately I already tried the install from folder and the result is the same. It seems the problem comes from the install process not the upload one.

I absolutely agree with you that it's probably a problem with the server setup but as Swisscom support do not find what's going on and keeps bringing me back to hypothesis like permission issue or Admintools blocking, I thought you may have encountered this situation elsewhere and have an idea about wich server setup could be causing that.

And what also gets me curious is that only some packages triger that 403. It's the case actually for Admintools 4.2.0 and Icagenda 3.6.8. It was also the case for Admintools 4.1.3 and Akeeba 5.3.4 but I could update them with automatic updates what I can't for Admintools 4.2.0 due to the certificate error.

For all other extensions / versions, I could update normally via extensions installer, Akeeba 5.4.0 included.

I am pretty sure it's not an Admintools issue, so I understand you can not (and don't have to) solve it for me. I am just trying to find a track I could follow and in despair I talk about it everywhere I think I have a chance to find something new :)

This is not an issue with our software. Extensions installation and updates are performed by Joomla! itself. In fact we are expressly forbidden from providing our own code to install our extensions or their updates on pain of being banned from the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

In this case you have a generic 403 message which comes from your host. We are not your host. We have not set up your server. As a result we cannot possibly know what your host has done that blocks extension updates.

This ticket is now closed as outside the scope of our support services.
