 Hello,

Since I was so far behind on the update, I just was able to update to Joomla 3.6.5 and started to update Akeeba Backup and Akeeba Admin Tools. I began with update Akeeba Backup from 5.1.2 to 5.2.5 and 5.3.4, so currently I have Akeeba Backup 5.3.4. Everything works fine.

For Admin Tools, my plan is I will update from 3.8.5 to 3.8.6 and 4.0.2 and 4.1.3. When I updated Admin Tools from 3.8.5 to 3.8.6, everything worked. Then, I update to 4.0.2, I cannot access to Akeeba Backup in the Administrator area. I got a blank gray page with HTTP ERROR 500. I reinstall 4.0.2, and still get the same result. I hesitate to jump to try to install Admin Tools 4.1.3. Please advise.

Thank you,

M

Go ahead and update to 4.1.3. I'm thinking that it has to do with the FOF library, which is part of both components. If you still get the 500 error, we'll have to figure out what is causing it.

And you need to clear your browser cache with each update if you're going to test to see if everything is OK>

Dale,

Thank you for a quick reply and your suggestion. if works. I can access to Akeeba Backup in the Administrator area now.

Since, I tested this procedure on the test environment, for the live site, should I update from 3.8.5 to 3.8.6 then jump to 4.1.3? Should I concern about skipping so many versions?

Thank you,

M

Usually skipping versions is not a problem. But sometimes there is a database change, which is done by the update process. If you skip the update, you lose the database change and then you have a problem. And your problem is big enough that it takes Davide or Nicholas to log in to your site and do surgery on your database to manually add the field. That can certainly be done, but it is to be avoided if we can.

You could also export your settings, uninstall Backup, install the new Backup on the updated site and restore your settings. You would lose your Manage Backups screen and you would need to download your backup archives before uninstalling. When you uninstall, the default output folder - and its contents - is deleted.
