I always have problems with the login right after I installed Admin Tools!

I saved the set up as a .pdf so I can see what I entered in the setup. But as soon as I am trying to login I am getting:
To view this page, you must log in to www.xxxxxxx.com:80
I enter the login information that I created in the "Password-protect Administrator" — Isn't that what I am supposed to enter? I don't know because it doesn't work!!!

I emptied the cache, used another browser, disabled the main.php but I still can't login!

Now what?

Britt,

The Password Protect Administrator will trigger a popup box that prompts for a user ID and password. This is the user ID and password that you set up in the wizard, it has nothing to do with Joomla! users. If necessary, you can disable this by deleting or renaming the .htaccess and .htpasswd files in the /administrator folder - NOT the root.

Sorry, but I cannot find a .htaccess or .htpasswd files in the /administrator folder! There is a htaccess.txt in the public_html folder.

Those files would be hidden files, you need to set your FTP client or file manager to display hidden files. The leading dot in the file name means hidden on Linux systems.
