Hi, I just need an advice for a migration I have to do for one of my customer. There's only a very little part of Admintools, most of the parameters are with my host with which one I have already check this step. But it would be gratta if you could confirm I'm doing the right thing ?

SO :
My customer has been using a domain cgpme.nc for now 2 years.
He has to change it to cpme.nc (no more "g").

I have a Cloud hosting at Siteground with WHM and then access to Cpanel of each account I'm creating on this WHM. What I'm going to do :

1/ Create a new account for cpme.nc domain
2/ Moving website from cgpme.nc to cpme.nc
3/ Create all mailbox like on cgpme.nc but on cpme.nc (with new domain)
4/ Create an add-on cgpme.nc on cpme.nc account
5/ Add "cgpme.nc" on "Redirect this (old) domain name to the new one" on the htaccess builder
6/ Create rerouting mailbox from cgme.nc to cpme.nc corresponding mailbox
7/ Erase cgpme.nc account

As you can see there's only one point admintools. But I would like to know if :
A/ The htaccess parameter's is well used in this case
B/ I you see any better way to do that migration ? Or if you think it is a good way ?

Thanks for any advice here, I know it is not really your job to give that kind of advice, so if you answer only to point "A" it will be alright :)

Hello,

A/ The htaccess parameter's is well used in this case
Yes, this is the correct way. As reported in the documentation:
Sometimes you have to migrate your site to a new domain, as we did migrating from joomlapack.net to akeebabackup.com. Usually this is done transparently, having both domains attached to the same site on the hosting level. However, while a visitor can access the old domain name, the address bar on his browser will still show the old domain name and search engines will believe that you have set up a duplicate content site, sending to the darkest hole of search engine results. Not good! So, you'd better redirect the old domain to the new domain with a 301 redirection to alert both users and search engines about the name change. This is what this option does. You can include several old domains separated by commas.
So, if you have both "files" attached to the same domain, using such option will force the redirect to the new domain.

B/ I you see any better way to do that migration ? Or if you think it is a good way ?
It seems a good plan! I would do the same.
