From what I can tell, that old version does not have the built in documentation regarding the automation that the modern versions of Admin Tools have. The documentation is available here: https://www.akeebabackup.com/download/admin-tools/3-4-4.html.
You can set it up as a CRON job, it is just a little more difficult with that version because you have to figure out the path to the scanner for yourself.
