For the past 24-48 hours I have been receiving emails from our Joomla website about security exceptions from 127.0.0.1. Our host, 1and1 said that it has nothing to do with them and to direct my questions 'to the plug in's creator'.

The security exception repeats itself quite regularly. I've read everything I could find in the support tickets. Not sure what to do. I see that blocking 127.0.0.1 may cause issues with things. I'm not using CRON jobs, but am using Akeeba Backup.

I am hoping that someone from support can shed some light on what might be happening or what my next step might be... 1and1 hasn't been any help at all!

I think 1and1 support gave you the right answer. Even if they had a pretty good idea what was causing it, you have to be pretty familiar with Admin Tools to fix it. Now let's see if I'm right...

Go to Admin Tools, Web Application Firewall, Configure WAF, on the first tab, flip the value in the IP Workarounds field. If the box is checked, uncheck it, if it is unchecked, check it. We're not worried about the recommended value right now, that is right on most servers, but not on 100% of them. Please see if that solves the issue.

Dale, I think you were right on the money! I changed Enable IP Workarounds to No (the recommended setting for your site... it said) and I have not received any security exception emails so far. If anything crops up I'll be sure to let you know. My apologies to 1and1, the did the right thing and sent me in the right direction. Peter
