I have been working on my localhost with Admin Tool Professional installed and with the backend firewall activated that required me to login first before the Joomla login console. Which is working perfectly?

Then I backed up the site using Akeeba Backup and move it to the live environment. When trying to access the backend I get the Akeeba Admin Login screen which I log into but then it throws out this error:

------------
Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, [email protected] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Apache Server at dev.kahlaucorp.com Port 80
------------

Now I can't log into the Joomla Administration backend at all it just keeps throwing out this error.

What must I do?

You need to delete the .htaccess and .htpasswd files from your administrator directory. Please note that these files are hidden by default. You need to tell your hosting control panel's file manager or your FTP/SFTP client software to display hidden files. After logging in to your site's administrator please remember to re-enable the administrator password protection.

Why does this happen?

Different versions of the Apache web server - and third party web servers compatible with directory password protection such as Lighttpd and Litespeed - on different platforms support different subsets of password encryption in the .htpasswd file. We always try to use one supported by your server when you set up this feature. When you move your site to a different server which does not support the password hashing method used by the .htpasswd file Apache responds with an unhelpful, generic error message.
