Hi and thanks for your help,

I am getting a 403 Forbidden Access to this resource on the server is denied! when I attempt to search for ARTICLES in the back-end. Could this be Admin Tools?

Julia,

It is possible that Admin Tools did it, but that is not how I'd bet.

Let's test it. Please:
  1. Disable the System - Admin Tools plugin from your plugins list
If you have used the .htaccess Maker to enhance your .htaccess file, then
  1. Rename the .htaccess file in the root of your site and
  2. Rename htaccess.tzt to .htaccess. The htaccess.txt file is Joomla!'s default file that we use as a "known good" file for cases like this.
If you still have the 403, then Admin Tools is not the cause. If this solves the problem, then we need to do more investigation and see exactly what is causing the block.

Thanks Dale,

I disabled Admin Tools and I still get the 403- I haven't used the .htaccess Maker feature so I didn't rename the file.

You said you didn't think it would be Admin Tools- do you have any ideas for me?

I'm sorry, I don't have any good ideas. You can check the server error log, it should give you more information on the 403, like what file is triggering it. From there, check the permissions on the file. Enabling the FTP layer in the Joomla! Global Configuration screen may solve the problem, but we don't see sites that actually require that workaround much any more. We used that when the web user and the FTP user were different on the server and that causes all sorts of permissions issues. Mostly servers are set up to work around that now. I'm sorry I can't be more help.
