The first step is to clear your browser cache. If you get old, cached code mixing with new code, all sorts of strange things can happen.

If that does not solve the problem, we need to look for a javascript conflict between Admin Tools and another plugin.

You can also switch to the older style single page style in the Admin Tools Options menu.

Click the Options button in the upper right corner. On the Backend tab, set "Long Configure WAF page" to Yes.

It looks like you are experiencing a Javascript issue. Most likely this is due to malformed or badly written Javascript code added to the pages of your site by a third party plugin.

In order to provide support for your problem we need to know the exact Javascript error that is thrown. For this reason we would like to ask your to please attach a screenshot of the Javascript console of your browser, taken immediately after triggering the issue you want us to help you with.

Here you can find a friendly reminder on how to open the Javascript console:
  • Chrome Press either CTRL + SHIFT + J (ALT + CMD + J under Mac) to open the "Console" tab of the Developer Tools.
  • Safari Press CTRL + ALT + I (ALT + CMD + C under Mac) to open the Web Inspector. Note: This works only if the "Show Develop menu in menu bar" check box in the Advanced tab of the Preferences menu is checked!
  • Firefox Press CTRL + SHIFT + K (ALT + CMD + K under Mac) then click on the "Console" tab

Please note that we need a screenshot, not a paste of the log text. We have determined that, in most cases, pasting the log text alters the sequence of the function calls, becoming useless for debugging purposes.

Thank you in advance for helping us help you!

Unfortunately there is nothing we can do on our end. We are using Joomla's JHtml API to render the tabs. Basically, we tell Joomla "this is the tab header, this is the beginning and end of the tab, do your thing to make them look like tabs". As you can see in your screenshots Joomla's Javascript throws an error and the tabbed interface fails to work. Since this is a problem in Joomla itself (or a third party plugin or template messing up with Joomla's Javascript) all we can do is ask you to use the long page format.

I'm sorry, but I cannot be responsible for the Javascript errors caused by Joomla! itself due to third party software YOU have installed on YOUR site and which does NOT work well with Joomla! itself! I can tell you that we have several thousand clients which do not have this issue. Moreover I can tell you how you can verify this yourself: create a fresh Joomla installation and install Admin Tools. As you can see it works just fine.

If you want to, you can give me Super User access to your site and I can tell you exactly which third party software is causing Javascript errors on your site. If you are interested in that let me know so I can make your ticket private.

Finally, Admin Tools DOES work just fine on your site when you use the long form.
