The tmp folder is usually /tmp in the root of your site. But that isn't the right path to put in the Global Config screen. You need the path from the root of the server, so in almost all cases /tmp points to the server's /tmp folder, which is usually unwritable for you. You may be able to see the full path by looking at the Output Folder setting in Akeeba Backup.
