 Ever since upgrading my Joomla site to 3.6.0, all sites where I had used a password to protect my Admin Tools settings, now will no longer accept my password.

I have to uninstall Admin Tools and NOT use a password. As soon as I add the password, it will never unlock my account.

Assuming that you are talking about the Master Password feature: you need to go to the Master Password page and re-select the areas of Admin Tools you want to protect with a Master Password. Since the internal names of these ares have changed and do not have a 1:1 mapping between versions 3 and 4 we cannot upgrade your settings automatically. The password, however, remains the same.

Yes, it is the 'master password'. You are correct. There were no options selected.

So I clicked on Master Password, entered my password again, changed all of the options to "yes", they had been set to "no".

Now it will not accept my master password. I receive this error.

"Error
You are not authorised to use this feature "

Something is still not working.

Does your password contain any non alphanumeric characters such as $&@?!^%#* or something similar? I have a suspicion and I'm trying to piece together what's going on based on information I get from clients like you about this issue.

Hi,

Yes, My password contained an exclamation mark " ! ".

I downloaded and installed the dev version, but I can't log in with that password. Wondering if I should uninstall it and then install the developer version?

Yes, let's try that to be perfectly sure that your existing configuration doesn't get in the way. Please note that you'll unfortunately lose your Admin Tools settings when you uninstall version 4.0.0.

Hi, that did not work. I uninstalled 4.0 and installed the developer version revD1CAA5F and tried to save my password and then log back in. It did not take the password.

Sorry, it seems that dev release was broken (argh!). The correct one should be https://www.akeebabackup.com/download/developer-releases/admin-tools-professional/rev5604f05.html

Hi,

I just installed "Admin Tools Professional (dev) rev5604F05" and applied a password and it accepted it and allowed me to access the tools once I entered the password again.

The password contained a " ! ".
