I wasn't aware that CMS Update was no longer needed and that it should be removed - I must have missed that somewhere!
I have just used this to update to joomla 3.6.0 - it seems to have worked but is that OK?
However, there are a couple of tickets about removing CMS Update:
#24987 – Akeeba CMS Update - safe to remove?
#25339 – How do I remove Akeeba CMS Update exactly?
In the last one, Davide says:
"you can safely remove it since all the changes were merged inside Joomla core.
You can uninstall it as any other extension: go to Extension > Manage > Search for "akeeba CMS" > Tick the result > Uninstall"
That search returns no extensions but a search for 'cms' gives:
Cmsupdate
Quick Icon - Akeeba CMS Update notification for Joomla! updates
System - CMS Update Email
Are these the right ones to uninstall? Anything else I need to do?
Do I also need to delete the Akeeba CMS Update site http://cdn.akeebabackup.com/updates/cmsupdate.xml (which is giving an error) or will that be removed when I uninstall the extensions?
Thanks.
Alan
