.htacces issue
This issue applied to GoDaddy and a move to Sitegrounds and I'm getting the same issue.

My primary domain sits in the root public_html folder. I have a htaccess file using admin tools there.
Setting up new domains they have a folder structure like this public_html/{sitename}/

My problem is whenever I setup a site the root htaccess file causes a 403 error on the new site.

Not a clue where to start

Your folder setup is really wrong and will never work properly. This is because of the way Apache itself handles .htaccess files, namely they cascade entirely based on their location in the filesystem.

The best thing you can do is create a new directory next to public_html (NOT inside public_html!) for each new domain or subdomain you want to add to your hosting account.

Otherwise you will have to NOT use Apache or URL rewriting (basically, not have any .htaccess file) on the main site in the public_html folder itself.

That's what I did with godaddy.

I just bought a domain I never used and deleted the htaccess file from it.

I thought it was just a godaddy thing. But the siteground wizards did the same thing.

Also on another note I got an autoreply from my original post saying my subscription had expired which was confusing to say the least.

Thanks for the advice I'll give your suggestion a go, shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks

It's not a GoDaddy or Siteground issue. It's how Apache is designed to work. Very powerful but a bit confusing. I know.

Have a great day and good luck :)
