 Hi,

In AT 4.0.0.b1 release note you write

Miscellaneous changes

Warn about eAccelerator

I have a question. Does AT 4.0.0 work when eAccelerator is installed on server OR DOESN'T WORK?
Maybe he warns only?

Can I use it with eAccelerator enable or I MUST to turn off eAcclerator before update to 4.0.0?

Hello,

you should not use eAccelerator, its development stopped in 2012 and it was abandoned in 2014.
It can't support new language constructs implemented in PHP 5.4
For your information, from PHP 5.5 and later, there is Zend OP Cache enabled by default, which is much better and actively developed (Zend is the company that is currently developing PHP)

Ok,

I don't use eAccelerator enywhere but it is installed on server (not by me but by hosting provider).

My question is simple: Will AT 4.0.0. work on PHP 5.4 on server with eAccelerator OR NO?
I ask that just in case.

I depends if it is enabled or not.
If it's installed, but not enabled, it will work, otherwise, you'll get the warning and Admin Tools won't work.

Ok,

I want to be uptodate with AT and PHP so I have to change PHP version.
So what version do you recommend? 5.5; 5.6; Is PHP7 stable and OK. Can I use It on production servers?

PHP 7 has the best performance, but some extensions could not support it (by the way, all Akeeba products are working with PHP7). If you want to be safe, update to PHP 5.6

One more question.

If I change PHP for 5.6, I guess there is (in PHP5.6) no eAccelerator installed in this version?

You should ask your hosting if it's enabled and for which PHP versions.

Hi,

it's me again

can I disable eAccelerator by .htaccess writing that:

php_flag eaccelerator.enable 0
php_flag eaccelerator.optimizer 0

Is that will be ok?

You should contact your host and ask him if you can set php directives inside your .htaccess, not every host supports them.
