 Hi,

what do You think about adding button "Apply deafault file permisions" (755, 644 for all files and directories).

Now we can apply a default settings If we have not set custom settings for files/dirs but If we have custom settings we can't apply default settings.

Something like profiles of permissions but only 2: default and custom.

This has been possible for almost 6 years. Set the default permissions in the Permissions Configuration page. These will be applied to all files and folders EXCEPT those you have explicitly set different permissions for. Please read the documentation to understand how this feature works.

Yes, I understand it.

But I would like to click: Set default permissions -> 755/644 all files/dirs (default JOOMLA)

Then, for example update JOOMLA

Finally click: Set custom permissions: -> some files 755, some files 444, some files 440, some dirs 555 (for security reasons).

I hope You understand me.

I did understand you the first time. However, what you are asking is the same as what I said.

  1. Go to Components, Admin Tools
  2. Click Permissions Configuration
  3. Set the default permissions (see https://www.dropbox.com/s/pebnr6jyzv70rkx/Screenshot%202016-02-24%2016.34.52.png?dl=0) and click on the blue "Save default permissions" button
  4. OPTIONAL: Set custom permissions in the rest of the page. If you leave the permissions as three dashes (see https://www.dropbox.com/s/5eq328gbpk4rlwu/Screenshot%202016-02-24%2016.35.45.png?dl=0) then the default permissions you set above will be applied to this folder.
  5. Click Back
  6. Click on Fix Permissions to apply the permissions

If you have NOT set custom permissions (permissions are set to triple dash, i.e. the default) for a file/folder THEN the Default Permissions will be applied.

If you have set custom permissions for a file/folder THEN the custom permissions will be applied INSTEAD of the default.

Since by definition a single file/folder can only have one set of permissions applied onto it it grows to reason that asking me to apply both permission sets makes zero sense. You either apply the custom permissions or the default permissions. Indeed, if there are no custom permissions set then the default permissions are applied. This is already documented.

If you have further questions please do consult the documentation.
