I configured Admin Tools Pro and lost my SEF urls for Kunena--Joomla SEF and Kunena SEF are both enabled. SEF worked before configuring Pro (had the free version before)--now all of my Kunena category URLs changed to site.com/component/kunena/category and redirects to a 404 page (the URLS used to be site.com/category). Every site extension is up to date. Any suggestions are much appreciated, thanks!

That's a strange one. Some plugins like to be first or last, is there such a requirement for the Kunena SEF plugin?

You can try to disable the System - Admin Tools plugin, that will disable Admin Tools. If the problem persists, then it isn't the Web Application Firewall that is causing it. We would still need to look at the .htaccess file to see if that is the culprit.

Thanks for the quick response! I tried disabling the plugin and no change. What's the best way to send you my .htaccess?

dlb
.htaccess files are black magic. I probably wouldn't be able to spot the problem anyway.

Let's replace your current .htaccess file with the standard file that ships with Joomla! It is usually in the root of your site as htaccess.txt. Just rename your current file and rename the standard one. That is easier to undo than deleting them. I like to keep the Joomla! one on hand as a "known good" file. Note that some host cache the .htaccess files so it may take a while for the change to be effective.

Haha, thanks Dale. It looks like Admin Tools Pro renamed the original file to .htaccess.admintools. I renamed to .htaccess and will give it some time. Hope it works...

dlb
The original .htaccess file isn't intended to fix it, we're still trying to figure out what part is causing the problem. Your site security is better with the enhanced .htaccess file, but it may be interfering with your SEF URLs. Even if this works, we're not quite done yet.

Understood, I'd prefer to keep the site as secure as possible (I'm rebuilding it after a bitcoin ransom hack). So far, no change to the URLs/404 message...

Okay, so after some back and forth with Kunena folks, it appears that a menu became corrupted somehow. I restored the menu and the site works again--I think it was just coincidence that it happened around the time I installed Admin Tools Pro. I've restored the Admin Tools .htaccess, thanks for your help!

dlb
You're welcome!
