#24254 Dont show htaccess when login from certain IP

 Hi

I searched your site and Google for a solution, but I can't find any.
I would like to not show the .htaccess login in /administrator, when you want to login from a certain IP-address. It's not working with IP-whitelist I noticed, at least I tried that. But is this possible to achieve?

To be clear: everone should use this extra .htaccess login, except me, when I want to login from my office computer (IP).

That would be an extremely bad idea for the simple reason that IPs can be spoofed. This is why anything that grants you access based solely on your IP is a bad idea.

Besides, your browser remember the .htaccess login credentials. You only have to enter them once and they will be retained in your browser's password storage.

I'm only talking about the .htaccess login, not Joomla. That would not be such a bad idea, I guess?
Joomla login is remembered, but .htaccess isn't (not in Chrome anyway).

Any kind of automated, IP-based login is bad as it removes a layer of protection based on IP.

Regarding the .htaccess and Google Chrome, it seems that you are asked about the credentials when you completely close and reopen the browser (or power-cycle the computer). My copy of Chrome, however, does remember the information and fills it in automatically for me.
