#23894 Cannot Access Backend After Installing Admin Tools Pro

 Have just completed a fresh install of a Rocket theme bundle that includes Joomla. Was working ok until I installed Admin Tools Pro. After trying to access the backend I was taken to the front end offline page and tried to login here and was confronted with a 403 error.

Please help!

These instructions: https://www.akeebabackup.com/documentation/troubleshooter/atwafissues.html will allow you to turn off Admin Tools and get back into your site.

From your description, that will get you back in. There is a possibility that you have added a password to the /administrator folder too. If you are being prompted for a user and password that does not look like Joomla! then log in via FTP and delete the .htaccess and .htpasswd files in the /administrator folder.

Hi Dale,

I finally got back to this issue. There was a problem in the configuration where the "Forbid front-end Super Administrator login" was set to "Yes".

How is this meant to work?

That option will prevent a super user from logging in to the front end of your site. If you believe that a SU should only work in the back end, this will enforce your security policy. I never found it all that useful but some do.
