Although I have renamed the /plugins/system/admintools/main.php to main-disable.php I still can't have access to the backend.

Hello,
did you password-protected your backend, right?
In such case you have to connect using FTP and surf to the /administrator folder and manually delete the .htaccess and .htpasswd files that are inside such folder.
In this way you'll be able to login again.
