Since installing Admin Tools we have a strange problem where 'Super Users' are occasionally changed to 'Administrator'.

I was wondering if this might be related to Admin Tools. Is there a feature that might revoke a user's 'Super User' status?

I couldn't find any info about this in the documentation, but thought that maybe I just missed it.

No, Admin Tools would not automatically revoke a Super Admin's rights.

But... There is a feature that restricts you from editing user's setting in the back end when it is enabled. That would prevent you from changing an administrator to a SA. It might look like it was changed back if you don't catch that the change failed right away.

Under Web Application Firewall, Configure WAF, on the Joomla! Feature Hardening Options tab, change the "Disable editing backend users' properties" option to "No" to allow editing the users.
