Bonjour !

As usual, I installed Admin Tools on a website further to its migration from 2.5 to 3.4: Goldfinger Jewelry.
But when I apply the password protection to log in the backend, it's also applied to the frondend (so I have to enter my credentials to be able to visit the website)... First time I have this issue and I really don't know what I did wrong. (note that the Security exceptions log is empty)
Would be great if you can help me. Do not hesitate if you want an access to the backend.

Thank you!

Sandra

Sandra,

What is happening is that something on your front end (slide show maybe?) is calling assets stored in the /administrator folder on your site. That's a no no. No public facing extension should store anything within the /administrator folder. You will need to contact the author of the badly behaved extension, there is no way to work around the issue. You can't password protect the /administrator folder and use that extension.

Thanks Dale for your answer.
I'll contact them and see it with them.

You are welcome!

I'm not sure it is the slideshow, that's a guess. But something is pulling from within /administrator.

I'll make some tests on a test version of the website to determine which extension is responsible of that.

Bonsoir Sandra,

And for the benefit of Dale who's trying to help you: It's WidgetKit. You can't have back-end protection and WidgetKit on the same site. It's badly written, we've been telling them since four and a half years and they won't listen. Oh, well, it's just Yoo...

OK, I'm handing this back to Dale now :)

Thank you Nicolas for your answer and a double thank you for answering in French! I really appreciate.

I usually don't use this extension, but didn't have other choice this time.
I use it on 2 other websites, but without having this issue with Admin Tools (but other issues of course), but these 2 websites were built with J2.5 and PHP3, and a previous version of Widgetkit.
I'll contact them ;)

Thanks again

Sandra
