 Hi,

Read some of the documents on this issue: eg. disabling user registration. Have requested confirmation emails via admin.

Could this be an automated bot and will requiring email confirmation prevent it?

Hello Ric,

at the moment do you have user registration enabled or not? If it is, that could a legit request from a user.
Setting up email confirmation is always a good move, you should enable it
