If I rename the .htaccess within the administrator directory, I am able to get into the admin without a 404 error on the front-end of the site.
I am not sure if this is an issue with Joomla, Admin Tools (not likely), or hosting environment.
If I created the .htaccess myself OUTSIDE of admin tools through the cPanel program to do it, the same occurs. i'm leaning towards the SEF code in the htaccess file, but I have no idea how to track it down at this point.
Something interesting, if I run the following url in my site, it produces the same exact 404 page error:
www.mysite.com/file-does-not-exist.html
What's throwing me off is that it is saying "category not found", which makes no sense. Page not found makes sense, but category not found does not.
I'm not sure what to do with this and would definitely like to have my admin password protected.
