Have been getting a lot of "Your installation is corrupt" messages recently when setting up new sites, and Even on existing sites that have been working fine for some time.

Have tried the "reinstall twice" thing and occasionally it will work - but more often that not it doesn't - but there seems no rhyme or reason to it.

When I do a file check - Admintools displays usually the same list of files with wrong file-sizes. Checking these files on the server with ftp and the files are the "expected" size.

I have resorted to uninstalling and reistalling (4 or 5 times) and sometimes that works. Sometimes not. Its very frustrating not to be able to pin it down.

However the thing that has changed recently is that our Hosting provider had moved to using Litespeed as the PHP interface of choice. (where previously it was configured as a standard Apache module) - Was wondering if there is some incompatibility there perhaps? It seems to have sped up most of our sites and hasn't caused any other issues - But you never know.

If you would give us a clear, legible screenshot of the Files Check results of corrupt installations we could help you.

Most likely the installation corruption check is working properly, your problem being that not all files are copied correctly. I will only be able to tell you for sure if I have the File Check results.

Hi Nicholas.

Hmmm.... ok now i'm becoming very suspicious that its a light-speed issue. I went to grab a screen shot of the results from the site I put together today, and - Nothing. No errors at all. And yet earlier today it was giving a list of about 20 file-size incorrect readings. And I havn't done anything since this mornings install/uninstall/reinstall.

I then went to 3 of the other sites that have been giving me the same errors this week and now they are all - "magically fixed" - as well.

With 25 years working with software, "magically fixed" rings alarm bells for me. FYI - it isn't happening at all on our in-house development server (not running litespeed) only on our production servers.

You can close this ticket. I'll run some more tests on this and raise another ticket if/when I can get more clarity with the results.

Thanks for the speedy response. :-)

Regards

Tony

Precisely. Magic fixes usually mean "caching issues". Would you by any chance be using a CDN or a caching proxy (such as Varnish) in front of your web server?

Maybe you are using a code cache such as APC or XCache? Code caches are likely to cause similar issues. Unfortunately there is no reliable way to reset them after a Joomla! or extension update.
