 I just installed admin tools on a domain on my server ( www.westoverestates.org)
However when I go to components/admintools I get a 403 access forbidden error I am logged in as admin with super user access. admintool was installed using the extension manager install and no errors were reported. File and directory ownership and permissions look fine.
What did I miss ?

Checked that dir and everything looks good I turned on debug and here is the text I captured
403 - An error has occurred.

Access forbidden

Return to Control Panel

Call stack
# Function Location
1 JAdministrator->dispatch() /home/westoverestates/public_html/administrator/index.php:46
2 JError::raiseError() /home/westoverestates/public_html/administrator/includes/application.php:164
3 JError::raise() /home/westoverestates/public_html/libraries/joomla/error/error.php:251

The problem is that the call stack information points to the index.php file. That one isn't the problem, it is something called in the parameters of the command. Let's look at it a different way. The following instructions are for JavaScript errors, but the browser error console that it describes also gives information on which file threw the 403 error. Please try this and see if it gives us a specific file.

It looks like you are experiencing a Javascript issue. Most likely this is due to malformed or badly written Javascript code added to the pages of your site by a third party plugin.

In order to provide support for your problem we need to know the exact Javascript error that is thrown. For this reason we would like to ask your to please attach a screenshot of the Javascript console of your browser, taken immediately after triggering the issue you want us to help you with.

Here you can find a friendly reminder on how to open the Javascript console:
  • Chrome Press either CTRL + SHIFT + J (ALT + CMD + J under Mac) to open the "Console" tab of the Developer Tools.
  • Safari Press CTRL + ALT + I (ALT + CMD + C under Mac) to open the Web Inspector. Note: This works only if the "Show Develop menu in menu bar" check box in the Advanced tab of the Preferences menu is checked!
  • Firefox Press CTRL + SHIFT + K (ALT + CMD + K under Mac) then click on the "Console" tab

Please note that we need a screenshot, not a paste of the log text. We have determined that, in most cases, pasting the log text alters the sequence of the function calls, becoming useless for debugging purposes.

Thank you in advance for helping us help you!

I asked Nicholas for help, this is his reply:
Joomla! itself is blocking access before any of our code gets the chance to run

That's what the stack trace tells us

Therefore I can only assume he has some kind of ACL issue

He should probably buy an ACL Manager subscription and get Sander Potjer (the developer of ACL Manager and Joomla! ACL guru) help him sort out this Joomla! issue.
