Hi

After I moved my site to a new domain (same shared server) all my site links opens in new windows
All my links are linking to the correct pages, no errors - just in new tabs.

I have recreated my .htaccess file as per the Start Here guide

I'm not sure what is causing this problem, do you have any idea what I should be looking at ?

kind regards
Quintin

Hello Quintin,

Akeeba Backup simply creates a copy of your site, so you can restore it later.
This means that we don't change any contents of the site: whatever is not working now, it's still on your live site.
From what you're saying I think you have a system or content plugin that is adding the target="_blank" attribute on all of your links, I'd suggest you to check the plugins inside those two groups.

Thank you for the reply Davide

The component I have installed is Akeeba Admin Tools - thought it could be some issue with my .htaccess file or something.

Will check the plugins, thank you

Can you please double check if the attribute "target" is set on your site links?
.htaccess can't do that: it interacts with the server, not your browser, so he can't be the guilty.

it's very strange, the first time i've come across this problem - and I haven't seen this issue in any forum discussions ... so i'm a little stuck on this.

I'm sorry, maybe I didn't interpreted your previous post in the correct way.
Do you still have the issue?
Please try the following steps in the restored site:
  1. Try disabling all the system plugins one by one and check if you still have the problem after unpublishing every single item.
  2. If you still have this issue, try with the plugins of the Content group.

As I previously wrote, Akeeba Backup is not changing any content of your site, so there must a third party plugin that is causing this problem.
As you can image, we can't provide support for software that is not developed by us.
