I'm setting up a new server to replace one which I've been running php 5.3.28. I'm looking for the optimal performance. I have read pretty much all of your comments regarding nginx and wanted to know if using either nginx or apache there would be any performance gains or loss using php 5.4 vs 5.5 for joomla 3.3.3 / latest Akeeba products. Or any reason otherwise not to use 5.5?

Yes, there is a performance difference. Every new version of PHP is faster than its predecessor. If all of your extensions work with PHP 5.5, please use it.
