I setup and configured AdminTools options and after when I go to my Joomla backend > components > Admin Tools it simply goes to the front-end of the site instead of the AdminTools component. Strange.

First let's disable Admin Tools with the instructions here: https://www.akeebabackup.com/documentation/troubleshooter/atwafissues.html.
If that allows you back into Admin Tools in the back end, then we have a security setting problem. If it doesn't, we have some other problem that we'll have to track down.

Weird! Now it works! I didn't do anything and simply opened AdminTools and it went where it was supposed to, the config screen.
