Hi Nicholas,
I am having problems whereby I cannot stop registered users from editing Artciles from the Frontend.

I posted a message to the SiteGround Suppot and there response was ;

I have tried to resolve the problem but to no avail.

It appears that there is some problem with the Joomla permissions but I was not able to find its cause. I have tried to deny access to the editing options through the Joomla administrative area --> System --> Global configuration --> Permissions tab --> Public but the settings for all child groups (such as Registered, Editor etc.) returned Conflict message.

I have tried also to create new group called Viewer with the same permissions as Public and assigned the user Bloggs to it but the issue was still there.

I though it would be worthwhile checking with yourself in-case you were familiar with this type of problem.,or had heard of similar problems.

Many thanks
Regards
Dave

This is an ACL issue. I recommend buying a subscription at ACLManager.net and asking Sander to help you out. He's the Joomla! ACL guru. If anyone can help you it's him.

Hi Nicholas,
Here is the message thans Sander posted;

I noticed that the Public user group was allowed for the "Configure" action for the global configuration. This means that the group turns into a super user group that can perform anything. I have now corrected the permissions for the Public and Registered user group.

Please keep in mind to not configure permissions for the Public User Group.

I have also installed ACL Manager, that should make it easier for you to understand the permissions of the website. By clicking on a group name you can see and manager the permissions by clicking on the icons in the grid.

Problem resolved!

Many thanks for your help

Dave
