Yesterday I installed Akeeba Admin Tools on one site I managed, everything worked fine. Today I install on a different site (same Joomla version, same hosting company) and when I run the PHP File Change Scanner I get an error "Server Error: 500 Internal Server Error" and it stops. The only file extension it is searching for is "php"

Thanks

I have

File types to be scanned: php
Min Time: 0s
Max Time: 1s
Bias: 75%

Please try the following.

File types to be scanned (one per line):
php
phps
php3
inc

Minimum execution time: 0 seconds
Maximum execution time: 5 seconds
Runtime bias: 75%

These are the suggested values. With a maximum execution time of 1 second you will be making one request to the same URL every second which usually triggers the denial of service protection of your server.

Just tried those settings, but no change, still get the "500 Internal Server Error"

I don't know if this is related by via Cpanel I get a lot of errors like

[Wed Apr 16 14:50:39 2014] [error] [client ###.###.###.###] File does not exist: /home/<domain>/public_html/403.shtml

If you are getting this error immediately I am afraid that the problem lies with your host. In this case you should ask them to look in their server logs and tell you why exactly they are killing the file scanner process. I have a suspicion that this happens because of a badly configured so-called "antivirus" protection on their server which mistakes our scanner for the threats it is designed to scan.
