Hi,

I would like to have password-protection as it can be created with ATPro for Administrator, but for whole site. Can I just copy-paste code from.htaccess that is in administrator directory to .htaccess in public_html, will that work?

Most hosts offer the ability to password protect a folder, that would be a better solution. Both offer the same .htaccess and .hdpasswd files, but there is a path within the .htaccess file to the .hdpasswd file. I'm afraid if we move the Admin Tools .htaccess file, the path to the password file will be wrong.

If your host does not offer the ability to password protect a folder, we can probably work it out.

First of all, I was not precise - I have two sites - one (main) that is in public_html directory, and another that is in public_html/test directory. I wanted to password-protect that second site (that is in public_html/test directory... ).

This is how I solved:

1. in Admin Tools, I created password for Administrator;
2. I moved .htpasswd from /administrator directory to /test directory;
3. In .htaccess maker (in ATPro) I just added what was in .htaccess from administrator directory in Custom .htaccess rules at the top of the file...
4. I just corrected the path in custom .htaccess rules (deleted /administrator... );
5. Save and create .htaccess;
6. I deleted .htaccess from /administrator directory.

That works too. Moving the files around and changing the paths within the .htaccess file are things that not all of our users would be comfortable with. :-)

I'm glad you got it working.
