 Hi Nic,

First of all, love your work! Sorry for submitting ticket, but this has really thrown me!

Second is my issue:

When I click on the .htaccess maker in Admin Tools, I get thrown back a 404 - The requested URL /index.php was not found on this server.

I had used the .htaccess maker previously to allow direct access to a component, so this feature obviously did work previously.

Here is what I did:
  • I made a backup of .htaccess,

  • then I went to add in document expire rules using the .htaccess maker,

  • added in the rules

  • saved and created new .htaccess

and then I got thrown this 404 error from /administrator/index.php?option=com_admintools&view=htmaker

So I replaced the new htaccess with the old one... still same result - 404

After mucking around I could not fix this issue, So I did a complete restore of the website from an hour earlier... still same result 404.

So I re-installed Admin Tools on-top of itself, but yet again 404 on the htmaker part of the component.

Every part of the website seems to be functioning properly on front end and back end, including every other feature of admin tools and backup. This is the only part that is giving this 404 error.

This has me baffled, and does not make sense to me. There seems to be no one else having this issue in the support queue. Can you shed any light on what might be happening / how I can fix this?
Warm regards,
Julian Murray

OK hi again.. after thinking a bit

I am preparing this site for a client in a sub-directory, and the link to the htaccess maker is not going to the sub-dir.

I can manually type in the sub-dir to the URL and the feature works.

So I found the work-around for this... but am unsure why this happened, and happens still after I restored the site from a working backup.

Maybe a bug?
Many thanks for lending an ear.
Warm regards,
Julian Murray

Hello Julian,

can you please check if inside your configuration.php file you have a value for the variable $live_site?
If not, please fill in with your site address, with protocol, without trailing slash, e.g.
$live_site = 'http://www.example.com'
