This IS NOT an ADMIN TOOLS issue, but users searching this forum will have a fix available to them.
The MAIN reason I'm posting this is because not being able to receive email alerts about malicious activity could have serious consequences if left unchecked.
Problem:
After upgrading Joomla from 3.1.5 to 3.2, Admin Tools configured email alerts for "security exceptions", "failed and successful back-end login access" suddenly stop being sent to the client email address configured.
Behavior:
After the upgrade, when initially logging into the back-end, I'm suddenly greeted with a light green informational message stating:
JLIB_MAIL_FUNCTION_OFFLINE
Before the upgrade, when anyone would login to the back-end, I would receive an email in my inbox alerting me that the back-end was accessed. Most importanly, I would receive emails when Admin Tools blocked malicous activity. << Very Important!!
When someone fills out the standard contact form and submits it, we see:
"The mail function has been temporarily disabled on this site, please try again later."
Resolution:
Login to your backend, goto "System>Global Configuration>Server" under the "Mail Settings" options "Send Mail" setting, simply toggle from Yes to No. Save, then toggle the same setting back from No to Yes. Save and Close. Logout from the backend. Log back into the backend. Check your email client for to ensure alerts are now being sent. I did this on 4 sites I upgraded from Joomla 3.1.5 to 3.2, and this fixed this issue on all of them.
