Mandatory information about my setup:

Have I read the related troubleshooter articles above before posting (which pages?)? Yes
#Installation troubleshooting
#Locked out my own IP address
Have I searched the tickets before posting? Yes
Have I read the documentation before posting (which pages?)? Yes
Joomla! version: 5.2.14
PHP version: 5.3.24
MySQL version: 5.1.70-cll
Host: United Hosting
Admin Tools version: 2.5.8

Description of my issue:
When I select Admin Tools from the components menu in administrator back end the Admin Tools the page is displayed without any formatting from the template . Selecting any tool (eg WAF) then results in a blank page. (NB Akeeba Backup appears to be working OK)
When I access the front end of the site, the front page is accessible but any attempt to access other pages results in 404 error.

Other Relevant Information:
Recently set up a load of IP addresses to be banned (after seeing many login in failures in log). In doing so I have included IP addresses that I use and have locked myself out.
Meantime - used the link from an Akeeba Update email to attempt update to 2.5.8. This resulted in a long period waiting for server response followed by a blank page.
Renamed pro.php to pro-xxx.php in order to gain access to administrator pages.
Renamed .htaccess to .htaccess.bak

Attached is a screenshot of what my Admin Tools looks like.

Many thanks for any help offered.

James Paxman

I think you did something with htaccess Maker, which overwrote your .htaccess file and the RewriteBase command that was in it. That would account for the 404 errors you are getting on the front end. I'm not sure it would explain the strange screen in Admin Tools. Your original .htaccess file should be backed up in the root of your site, named htaccess.admintoos.txt, something like that.

I'm not sure what you did by renaming pro.php, the normal way to disable the WAF is to rename plugins/system/admintools/main.php.

Getting that RewriteBase line back in your active .htaccess file will solve the 404s and disabling WAF will get around blocking your own IP address. In order to unblock it, you need to remove it from the security log as well as the black list.

Hi Dale - many thanks for your suggestions.

RewriteBase was indeed commented out in my htaccess file. I uncommented it and that got rid of the 404 errors in the front end - so at least the site is working. Many thanks.

However - no change to Admin Tools. Still got the unformatted main Admin Tools page and clicking on any of the options results in a blank page.

I renamed pro.php as that was recommended in a post on the Akkeeba support pages - likewise I also renamed main.php as this was also recommended. This has allowed me access to the back end but Admin Tools is still non functional.

In default of anything else I am considering uninstalling and then reinstall. Can this be done with the normal Akeeba enhanced installer or is there a manual process ?

Thanks for the help
James
