Joomla! version: Joomla! 2.5.12
PHP version: PHP v 5.3.13
MySQL version: MySQLi Client API version 5.1.66-cll-lve
Host: www.oderland.se
Admin Tools version: Admin Tools Professional version 2.5.6

Description of my issue:
I've updated 9 sites earlier today to Joomla 2.5.12 after receiving the update notification emails from Admin Tools. Later today I started to get new notification e-mails to update to 2.5.11 and this is why I came back here to akeebabackup.com and then I saw your warning:
https://www.akeebabackup.com/home/news/55-general/1525-joompa-2512-312-updates.html

I did not run into any errors or other issues with any of my updates. They are made on 9 sites on 4 different hosts. The only problem that is obvious from my end is the update emails I'm now receiving telling me to update to 2.5.11. Also on one of the sites I updated from v 3.1.1 to 3.1.2 and I'm also getting the same email notification to update to 3.1.1 from that one as well now.

So, what should I do? I do have backups of the sites but I really hope I don't have to restore all of them since I'm having a huge workload at the moment and some of the sites are really complicated to restore due to huge files and complicated (stupid) hosts without cpanels and other issues that require I have the host's staff with me on SKYPE when I do the restore.

Please, tell me there is another solution... For example, could I install the Joomla updates manually on top of these ones when they will be released officially from Joomla? Then I could just disable the email notifications while waiting for them to be released... What do you think about this Nicholas?

Anna

If you have no issues stick with the pre-released 2.5.12 and ignore the update messages (FYI I am doing the same on my personal blog site). If, however, hell breaks lose and some sites start malfunctioning you can follow the last bit of advice in my warning post and install the 2.5.11 update package. Yes, I know what you're thinking: "I have 2.5.12, is this crazy guy asking me to 'upgrade' to 2.5.11?!". It actually works. I have tested it, on AkeebaBackup.com of all sites. The upgrade to 2.5.12 screwed up the site – it was a problem with the database after all– so I had to scramble for a solution. I tried the "update" to 2.5.11 (a downgrade, actually) and it really does work. If it didn't, well, we wouldn't be having this discussion here :)

Dear Nicholas,
I don't think you understand what kind of trust I have in you :-) If you told me to cross a street blind folded I'd probably do it without hesitation too! So I downgraded all 9 sites to be on the safer side...

I've just finished updating (downgrading) by installing via Joomla Extension Manager to v 2.5.11 and 3.1.1 with the stable update packages. I think all went well. The only thing that looks slightly suspicious to me now is when I checked one of the sites in
Extension Manager > Check database:
It says --------------------------------------
Database table structure is up to date.
Other Information
Database schema version (in #__schemas): 2.5.12.
Update version (in #__extensions): 2.5.11.
Database driver: mysqli.
66 database changes were checked successfully.
33 database changes did not alter table structure and were skipped.
--------------------------------------
Is it OK do you think?

Crossing a street with me is pretty safe; I err on the side of caution, to the verge of being a wuss, when crossing one :)

That's normal. This number doesn't get downgraded ever, only upgraded. And not every version of Joomla! upgrades that number. Long story. *sigh*
