Description of my issue: (Hi, Nick!) I can't seem to get the update 2.5.6 to install for some reason; the tmp dir is writeable, in fact I see the update's zip file right there in the tmp dir, in FTP, but it keeps giving me the error msg: "Downloading the update package failed. Make sure that your temp-directory is writable or that you have enabled Joomla!'s FTP options in your site's Global Configuration."

Well, I don't think downloading it failed, as I said, I see it there in the tmp dir. And I NEVER EVER EVER! enable Joomla's FTP; I use FileZilla for FTP, and why give a hacker yet another access point; so I have no idea what's up with this. Should I just grab the zip file from the tmp dir and manually install it, or what? This is really weird, haven't had a problem like this before, when doing the auto-update. Am I going to have this problem with all my sites, when I try to update to 2.5.6?

Thx!
Andria

Hi Andria,

I'm not sure why you closed the ticket, but in all other similar cases we've seen it was a wrong Download ID. Please follow our instructions to reenter your Download ID. Do not forget the last three paragraphs; you have to carry out these steps for the Download ID update to actually work.
