Description of my issue

Hello

I upgraded my SH404sef component to its latest version sh404sef 4.1.0.1559 and got an error message in the front end end and admin end. Saying that shlib needed to be enabled. I double checked the plugins and shlib was enabled.

So I went to the Admintools htaccess maker and added this to the "Allow direct access, including .php files, to these directories"
public_html/plugins/system/shlib

That fixed the issue. No more error.

Nickolas, did I do the right thing? I did it quickly because the error was showing up on the front end of the site.

If I did the "right thing", then I will post my "fix" on the SH404sef site.

Perhaps you can add, by default the exception to the next upgrade of admintools, because I am sure many users of Sh404sef will run into this issue and will not know immediately what to do.

Thanks!

I have no idea what this plugin does, but it sounds like a Bad Idea™ having to allow direct access to PHP files which can be arbitrarily accessed over the web. Maybe Yannick could use a URL in the component to achieve the same functionality?

Hi
FYI,

I found an old post on the SH404sef forum.

I have to wonder, why enabling the query cache requires access to arbitrary PHP files...

A google search comes up with other issues, and it may "simply" mean I need to reinstall the shlib plugin.

http://anything-digital.com/forum/extension/sh404sef/6046-sh404sef-requires-the-shlib-system-plugin.html

I will test it on an development server, and it may end up having nothing to do with admin tools and I will be able to remove my temporary folder exception.

I will do this test over the next day or so and let you know.

Hi Nickolas.

Just wanted to report that I am no longer having shlib plugin "conflict".

As you suggested, I removed public_html/plugins/system/shlib from the exceptions field in the Htaccess Maker. I also upgraded to the lastest version of Admin Tools - 2.5.6

Not sure what "fixed" it. But I am not having the problem any more. Sh404sef version 4.1.0.1559 and admintools ver 2.5.6 seem to be happily working together for me again.

Apparently Yannick had already fixed that issue but for some reason the updated version of the plugin was not being installed on your site. Well, sometimes you have to install packages twice due to an intermittent and long standing Joomla! bug that's proven impossible to reproduce reliably enough for anyone to debug.
