Mandatory information about my setup:

Have I read the related troubleshooter articles above before posting (which pages?)? Troubleshooting guide
Have I searched the tickets before posting? Yes
Have I read the documentation before posting (which pages?)? Yes
Joomla! version: 2.5.11
PHP version: 5.3.13
MySQL version: 5.1.56-log
Host: (optional, but it helps us help you)
Admin Tools version: 2.5.5

Description of my issue: On one of my websites, my Admin Tools installation is up-to-date, but it is taking such a long time to respond when I go to Components > Admin Tools, that I sometimes get a "Gateway Timeout" message. All other components, including Akeeba Backup, are functioning fine.

It seems like my FIrewall Security Exceptions log has gotten too big - 2170 pages of entries!!! I know ... I'm a <i>bad bad girl</i> for not checking them or getting my settings right for email notifications. It's running so slow that it's difficult to see what the majority of entries are. A lot of them on page 1 of results were "template=" in url. So I have turned off the email icon in my articles.

Page 2 of the results are a lot of login failures, but all from different IP addresses. In fact, I think the majority may be login failures. Seems to be happening more and more.

The thing is, I need to reduce the size of this log to speed things up. I found <b>admintools_breaches.log</b> file (thanks to your great documentation :)). I editted the file and deleted most of the entries. (Made a backup copy first). Have since cleared the website cache via the backend, logged out, logged in again, but admin tools is still listing the original 2170 pages of entries.

Also, my error.php file is full of login failure messages and is 5MB big. Should this be cleared too?

Is there a better way to clear the firewall Security Exceptions log without having to select and delete 2170 pages of entries via the backend? Or can you suggest how I can get the website to access the current version of the log file?

Sorry to trouble you with this ... Regards

You need to clear the contents of the #__admintools_logs table first. Then in order to keep your log table size under control go to Extensions, Plugin Manager and edit the System - Admin Tools plugin. The last configuration entry is the max number of log entries to keep. Set it to 2000 (that's a safe and practical value) and click on Save & Close.

Yep. I clean up the error log every few days.

Great support, as always! Many thanks :)

Having cleaned up the log, I can now see why it's filling up so quickly. The exceptions are mostly coming from one IP address (in France) doing an Admin Query String about 500 times per day. Even though I had blocked that IP address, when I checked my WAF Config, I had forgotten to "Disallow site access to IPs in Blacklist". Hopefully, this will solve the problem.
Regards and thanks!
