Nich,

Would it be possible in the next major revision of Admin Tools Pro, not the freely released version, to include in it a copy protection routine. I've been using YKhoon Content Protection now for several years to try and thwart Internet thieves. While by-and-large I've been satisfied with the extension it at times can be frustrating. Just now I'm having trouble disabling it so I can examine my sight using Firebug's right click.

Yeah, nothing on the Internet is truly protected, but something is better than nothing. And I know YKhoon has prevented the majority of the Internet thievery on my sites.

You'd provide a far superior extension than anyone I know of.

You want me to pretend that a Javascript function can protect your content when you can disable Javascript, click on the view source menu item, open the web developer pane, use wget or even very plain and stupidly Google Translate to get access to the raw content of the page? Why would I bother offering a feature that doesn't work and is a blatantly false promise to my clients? Wayne, I don't want to lie to my clients: such a feature is not worth the time spent writing it and offers no protection whatsoever. If you really want it just use Jumi and a script like this one to do that.

I was just asking. As for the web link you provided 'tis a mixed bag. It did make for interesting reading with, in the main, it being some saying yes and some saying no.

In my case I will explicitly state why I use it. And yes, the knowledgeable visitor can easily get by the script. However, in my case I am aware of two or three individuals (I used to work with one) who gained access to my work when I had no protection in place and used the text select feature to copy the text and use it to write an article for which he gained wide acceptance. The plagiarism was easy to spot. And of course, no credit was given.

Once I put a content protection in place he stopped using my site as his free research pool. I refer to those items not requiring a a membership. From that point onward he started doing it the right way in writing his articles.

Making it harder was the part I was getting at. People who visit my sites would not know how to disable a script if their life depended on it. I have to walk some of them thru how to use the sites. Believe it or not.

OK, if the objective is making it harder you can definitely use the Joomi and script method I talked about in my reply. But it's something I can't put in Admin Tools. Admin Tools is a security tool, supposed to be providing solutions that really work and do something. This script doesn't really pass my quality filter for inclusion in Admin Tools.
