Description of my issue:
I have a joomla 1.5.26 that has admin tools installed. Today, the frontpage had disturbing php code showing in the body of the site. I did some investigating and did not see anything obvious as to the cause or if the site was hacked. What I did notice was that the php file scan menu was missing its icon and when you "click" on the missing icon nothing happens effectively not allowing me to scan the files.

I installed a whole new copy of joomla 1.5.26 over the existing site and the code is gone from the frontpage. I believe that it was an attempted hack. Do you have ideas? Why can I not scan php files?

Since I have no idea what the code was, it was probably a hacking attempt. I would also suppose that the same person removed Admin Tools' PHP File Scanner files from your site to stall you. You can install Admin Tools on top of your existing installation and you should now be able to run the PHP File Scanner again.

I should have saved the code is right! Anyway, I did uninstall Akeeba Admin Tools and checked the folders to see if there was anything left in .../components/com_admintools... and ../administrator/components/com_admintools....

There was nothing so I then reinstalled admin tools and have the same problem with file scan.

This website is on a server with multiple sites and file scan works on other sites. Could there be conflicts with other extensions say using jQuery or Mootools? I do not remember if I ever ran a file scan on this site.

Thank You

It's been many months since I last tried using a Joomla! 1.5 site. The only plausible explanation is a conflict with a third party plugin. However this does not explain the missing icon. Are you sure you are installing Admin Tools Professional 2.2.10 on your site?

Nicholas,

Thank You for trying to help me. Can I ask you, do you know where this image resides on the website? I thought I would check to see if it was installed. I do have admin tools 2.2.10.

I agree that what could have happened is a conflict in some way with Java. We are in the process of moving to Joomla 2.5.X so this is not terribly critical to fix but since it appears I had a hack attempt it would be nice to get to the bottom of it.

(SO stupid of me not to save that code)
