Description of my issue:

Hi Nicholas.

I am getting the following error on a instance
the website encountered an error while retrieving http://www.DOMAINS.com/administrator/index.php?option=com_installer

This also happens in both your Tools and backup extensions ? No other extensions ? This "could" be related to a failed installation of the j4Schema but nevertheless, this only happens in Akeeba extensions and the core installer ?

In researching this, I noticed you had helped out someone in a previous ticked bu reinstalling the most recent version of the Akeeba Tools.

I cannot do this through the Joomla installer at this point

Can you help me in how to upgrade manually ?

Thanks
Danny

Hello Danny,

Please disable the system restore points plug-in. This will allow you to have access to the extensions installer page again.

If that is not enough I would recommend following our troubleshooting instructions for post–February 2013 releases.

hum, how do I do that withough entering into Akeeba tools ? I get that error when selecting the Akeeba tools, backups and Joomla extension menus.

PS: I am not ready to install PHP 5.3. Although I agree it should be updated, there is a whole slew of issues I need to test which I got from trying this a few weeks ago.
