Description of my issue:
Hi Nicholas,
Additional downloadID brilliantly simple solution as always...thanks!
I'm trying to GZip the above site. Apache is 2.2.
I cannot get it to work. No matter what I try, when testing through GIDZip tester, it shows no GZip.
Joomla GZip does work...

I definitely have mod_deflate active, this confirmed through Apache check "httpd -M".
I have full access to server as is Virtual device. I have also tried modding htaccess to to use newer syntax and mod_filter, still nothing. Do you have any suggestions or ideas on what might be wrong?

The option in .htaccess will only result in your static resources (.css, .js and so on files) to be served GZipped. If you want to also GZip your HTML you have to select the appropriate option in your Global Configuration.

Important note: dynamically generated JS, CSS and so on will not be GZipped automatically. It's up to the generating PHP script to do that.
