PHP version: 5.3.16
MySQL version: 5.1.49-3

Admin Tools version: 2.5.3 pro

Description of my issue:

Hi,

Someone (in Romania) is using my site to send "spams" using type addresses
(see attached)

..........
I put the IP address blacklist, but it changes regularly

Is it possible to stop this with admintools. ? (On my website, the captcha Joomla does not work with the mailto function)
Thank you for your help

If it's a human and not a bot you can't do much about it. If you ask me, Joomla!'s "email a friend" feature is broken. It's been like that for several years. I would disable that feature entirely by disabling the com_mailto component from the Manage Extensions page of Joomla!.

Thank you for your reply,
I think I'm not ready to solve this problem because it is not possible to disable the mailto component from the Manage Extensions page of Joomla, and I do not have the skills to do otherwise

You can turn off the email icon from Content, Article Manager, Options (or from the Advanced parameters of the menu items leading to your content).

This is what I did from the first sending spam, but that does not change because the component is not disabled, and the spammer probably used the browser directly.

Asked robot or human? : I think it is a robot because it sends the same message twice in the second

That's what I would have guessed, but another Joomla! expert was telling me that in this case every Joomla! site could be used as a spam gateway, which is not the case. I guess I will have to investigate how com_mailto works and try to propose a patch to the Joomla! project.
