#15267 Error trying to install 2.5.1 and 2.5.2 on J2.5.x

Description of my issue:

"You need PHP 5.3.1 or later to install this component

Component Install: Custom install routine failure

Error installing component"

with 1and1 admin I show PHP 5.4

but in Joomla I show PHP Version 5.2.17

 

I'm having extreme problems trying to update the last 2 versions to rolled out and have temporarily uninstalled altogether

OK, you had the problems with the previous versions because you suffered from known Joomla! issues and a bug in the pre-installation script. Now that I have solved the bug you see exactly why you had those problems: your PHP version is way too old.

You might be wondering, if 1and1 offers PHP 5.4 why do you have PHP 5.2. This is because most hosts offer two PHP versions and the oldest version is always the default. Please contact 1and1 and ask them how you can enable PHP 5.4 on your site. They will probably ask you to add something to your site's .htaccess file. When you do that you can update to the latest releases of our components.

If you can't do that or if PHP 5.4 causes other problems on your site (some older or poorly written extensions can trigger compatibility issues with PHP 5.4 – ours are developed on PHP 5.4 so they're not susceptible to that) you will have to stick with the older versions of our components.
