Joomla! version: (2.5.9)
PHP version: (5.2?)
MySQL version: (unknown)
Host: (Hostgator)
Admin Tools version: (2.4.4)

Description of my issue:

Hi guys. I've been using your products for two years now, just want to say thanks for the awesome software!

Okay, so I'm running a site with Admin tools and Akeeba Backup. I didn't get around to updating to php 5.3 (latest version) and when I tried to update my Admin Tools automatically like always, I think the newest update failed because I don't have the latest PHP. The problem is, the latest PHP version conflicts with my crappy shopping cart. I'm working on upgrading to a new shopping cart.

Anyways, I got an error when trying to update saying "Custom Install Routine Failiure". I've read the documentation and I see that the reason I no-longer see Admin tools under my components is because of the Joomla issue with versioning. Before I go in and delete every plugin for Admin Tools and Database table and re-install, I'd like to know a few things.

Is Admin tools still actually installed even though I can't see it under components? I still see the files in my FTP directory. What I want to know is, when I remove the plugins and delete the tables to reinstall ... will all my Admin Tools settings dissapear? Will I need to make a new htacess with a secret admin URL - and will I need to go back into firewall settings and re-enter my URL forwarding options, etc, etc?

I'm just looking for the cleanest, most SAFE way to reinstall Admin Tools since this error has caused some problems for me. I know that it's not your fault, I just need to know what to expect when actually deleting tables and plugins. Will my admin URL revert back to www.domain.com/administrator (witout my secret URL, etc, etc, etc)?

I have a lot of customers on this site who are purchasing all day - and I would hate to make this website non-functional because I mess up on this uninstallation / reinstallation process.

Also: Why did it fail? Was it due to my outdated PHP?
