Joomla! version: latest

MySQL version: (unknown)
Host: (optional, but it helps us help you)
Admin Tools version: latest

Description of my issue: There are 5 to 6 IPs in the Auto Ip Blocking Administration every day and I'm wondering why that is? Since there is barely any traffic on my site at the moment. Are all the unique IPs being blocked by my site?

You can always got Admin Tools, Web Application Firewal, Security Exceptions Log and find out why these IPs were blocked. In fact, without this basic piece of information anything we might discuss will be pure speculation.

I'm sorry, I forgot to mention that the reason Security Exceiption Log gave me was "template= in URL" and I checked one of the IPs that was being blocked and it was googlebot.

Here is one of the target URLs, it seems to be the ones that I was trying to get rid of before, by using URL redirection:

http://www.mysite.com/component/mailto/?tmpl=component&template=ekho&link=38a199837e4c92aae8d46738258aefbaf8b6ab4b

There seem to about ten different URLs like this that seem to be recurring and linking to the same information.

I also tried disabling the .htacess maker and if I do that, all the component/mailto/?tmpl=component&template=ekho&link=38a199837e4c92aae8d46738258aefbaf8b6ab4b       disappear and are redirected to 404 page properly, so something in the .htaccess maker is causing the whole problem. Don't know what though.

Try setting "Disable PHP Easter Eggs" to No in the .htaccess Maker, click on Save and Create .htaccess and retry accessing that link.

Unfortunately, It's still accessible. Should I try deleting this "templates/your_template_name_here" from "Allow direct access, including .php files, to these directories" section?

No, it's irrelevant. But do try disabling each setting with a Yes/No toggle one by one to see which one is causing your redirection issue.

Thanks for helping thus far Nicholas.

i tried turning all the yes to no, but there was no effect, however if I don't use the .htaccess the links go away. I don't know what the problem could be.

I also have akeeba backup installed, could that be causing this to happen in any way?

user71930

I'm considering uninstalling admin tools and reinstalling it to see if these problem causing URLs go away. Should I give it a shot?

Also, just to give you an idea, all those multiple links lead to this page, they all contain this same information: http://screencast.com/t/Tz0wTb7sp

If you COMPLETELY remove .htaccess then all SEF URLs like the one you have a problem with produce an instant 404. Uninstalling AT won't change anything.

I see. Do you have any suggestions that might help?

I'm not sure what the problem you want me to solve is.

The redirection? I've already told you that I can't help with it.

The source of the links? It's some third party software. I can't help you with third party software.

Why those links fail with 404 when you remove the .htaccess file? I already told you, it's because these are SEF URLs (not containing index.php) and SEF URLs always result in a 404 unless you use a properly configure .htaccess file.

What is there for me to help that is in the purview of my support services?
