Joomla! version: 2.5.9
PHP version: 5.3.10
MySQL version: (unknown)
Host: Heart Internet
Admin Tools version: 2.4.4

Description of my issue:

Hi, This question relates to both Admin Tools and Akeeba Backup. In the Joomla 1.5 version of Admin Tools there was a button for 'Access Control' where you could select which users have access to Admin Tools. In the Joomla 2.5 version this is replaced with the core permissions.

The problem is that I have a customer who needs Super Admin Access but I don't want them to be able to access Admin Tools and Akeeba. This is for various reasons, the main one being that I don't want them to access our download ID.

Do you have any suggestions on how I can get around this?

Thanks

You can't do that with Joomla! 1.6 or later. If you give the Super User privilege to a user group then the users belonging to that group will always have all privileges, no matter what you do.

Hi

Thanks for your answer.

Can I suggest a feature request? There is probably a really good reason why you don't do this but it might be a useful feature for the download key to be bulleted, for example •••••••••••••••

Peter at NoNumber does this for his Extension Manager.

As I said, there is probably a good reason why you don't do this but maybe it's something to consider?

I have something better in mind :) In a couple of weeks I will be releasing new versions of all of my software and update our site as well. One the features I've added is the ability for my users to create additional Download IDs for use on their clients' sites. The difference to regular Download IDs is that you can disable these keys any time you please, e.g. when a client fires you or declines to pay you.

Thanks Nicholas, that sounds like a great idea.

PS I liked your response to CodeGaurd :)
