Description of my issue: I am getting a extraordinary amount of Joomla Update Messages from one of my sites. I have disabled the AT update plugin but stil get 3-4 per day.

Which plugin have you disabled? The emails are sent by the "System - Joomla! Update Email" plugin. Darn, I just saw why you were confused. The email text was misleading, referring to a different plugin. To be fixed in the next release.

It appears it may have been some type of database issue. I saw some errors in regards to the database connection. I updated my Joomla to 2.5.9 and they both disappeared.
